Revolver

By now, I should know better not to meditate if I'm going to consider sleeping anytime soon afterward. It "charges" me. It enervates my mind and emotions, although I still feel the wear on my body. Despite this, it's a lesson I haven't learned. So, following my meditation and failed attempt at sleep six hours earlier, I decided to break out my writings and start getting out my thoughts on the Parasite. When I cracked my laptop, Ramona Mayhem had posted an update on Facebook about loving a song by Emmanuel Santarromana. The only song I know by him is the song "Opera" from the movie "Revolver". I told her she should see it... and decided to follow my own advice. Afterall, the entire movie is a study on the Parasite, itself.

Before going further, I should note that the Austin poetry slam scene refers to me as "The Russian Judge". I'm a harsh critic. It takes something special to get onto any of my lists of "favorites". This movie instantly made my top ten movies and hasn't budged ever since. I have BMFD to thank for this particular infection. Tonight was only the second time I've watched it alone. I'll end this here... with a firm suggestion to see the movie... and with these quotes that are featured in it.

"The only real enemy to have ever existed, is an eternal one."
~The Road to Suicide, pg 1, line 1 [fictional source]

"The greatest enemy will hide in the last place you would ever look."
~Julius Caesar (75BC)

"There is no avoiding war, it can only be postponed to the advantage of your enemy."
~Niccolo Machiavelli (1502)

"The only way to get smarter is by playing a smarter opponent."
~Fundamentals of Chess (1883)

"First rule of business, protect your investment."
~Etiquette of the Banker (1775)

Note: The second time I tried returning to sleep, I remembered that the stores would soon be packed with shoppers and then empty of anything I would need from them... so I headed to the store. The third time I tried returning to sleep, I remembered that today was the last day of warmth before a terrible drop in temperatures is due... and so, now, sleep has been banished from consideration. Perhaps one day I'll learn this lesson... if only these sleepless sessions weren't always so fruitful.
