Hello, my name is Jared Jared Emmanuel Newby (March 10th, 1975 - September 4th, 2007) was the founder of the Trochlear Recordings Limited record label. He was born to Steve and Jerrie Newby. They both survive him, as does his brother and fellow musician Jason Newby. Jared was the musician behind the musical entities Mushuto, Epileptik Cerebral Reaktor, Lysin, Schema and Monkee Monsta'. He was also the primary collaborator on Trochlear projects Symbis and Ambitekture. To many, he was known simply by the name "Mushuto".

Incept: Jared was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Steve and Jerrie Newby. He and his brother Jason were raised there. Both of the brothers held interest in music. At the age of 16, Jared left Oklahoma and headed south to Texas. He stopped in Dallas for a few years, then moved south again. He landed in Austin, Texas--the Live Music Capitol of the World. There he stayed for the remainder of his life.

Jared's production system Music: Jared began producing electronic music in 1997 under the name "Mushuto". His early works focused on house, breaks and drum & bass. In 2001, he branched out into glitch, experimental and gabber. To keep the sound of his music separate, he created the entity Epileptik Cerebral Reaktor for the glitch and experimental sounds, then the entity Lysin for the gabber tracks he had been producing.

Raw 42 UK, the company licensing Mushuto's music to film and commercial producers, described him as: "One part Fatboy Slim, one part FSOL, one part Photek and one part Hybrid". KarmaDownload, the company he distributed thru, named him Artist of the Month for July, 2005. They described him as: "a D&B wiz from Stateside". He produced ten complete albums, leaving enough additional material to fill two or three more.

Mushuto's cover for 'The Counter-Productive Sessions' Graphic Design: Jared began designing album covers and promotional graphics before he had ever completed a full album. He favored images with urban styles, as well as the more abstract Asian styles. Using Photoshop as his primary tool, he designed the logo for his label, more than twenty album covers and many more promotional pieces.

Jared was a fan of the artist Aphex Twin. Like his idol, Jared used his photo-manipulation skills to alter and twist many of his own photographs. These ranged from simple modifications, to many more unrecognizable ones. A few of these he would use for artist promotions or for album artwork.

Trochlear Recordings Limited Trochlear: In August of 2005, in response to escalating interest in his music, Jared formed the Trochlear Recordings Limited record label. In November, he incorporated the label. Together with producer San Jaya Prime, all the label's early artists were made available thru KarmaDownload for the label's public launch in January of 2006. With early success, Jared made Jaya co-owner of the label. The summer and fall of 2006 brought many losses for Trochlear, including the loss of KarmaDownload for distribution and Raw 42 UK for licensing. Trochlear went offline, entirely, in spring of 2007.

With his his health failing, Jared and Jaya made plans to re-launch the label. Jared would not live to see the label brought back online. In his place, Trochlear artist HALUSIN8 (Ghost Face Geisha, S8pience, Pranakatana, D3viant 3xperiment) was brought forward as co-owner.

I Am the Goffer King Trickster; the Comic: Jared was well known for his sense of humor, which was often designed to provoke a reaction. The obscene and/or disgusting was a favorite aspect to many of his jokes. He had a long standing interest in morphology, brain chemistry and human anatomy, studying them up until he passed away. Any absurd or visual fact he came across in his study was likely to be used in an image or song title, or simply anxiously shared with the next person he would come across to see their reaction. Human psychology, another study of his, meant making nearly any human he came across "a living experiment". To any with a dark sense of humor, this aspect to Jared's personality was immediately welcomed.

Jared in Autumn Criminal; the Tragic: Jared, from the time he left Oklahoma until 2001, engaged in many criminal activities. He was often homeless, stealing in order to eat and make money. Check fraud was his next step, which earned him the money to begin dealing and doing drugs. His health deteriorated with the drug use. In 2001, he was imprisoned for check fraud. For his last years, Jared tried and succeeded to stay clear of most of the crimes he'd committed previously, relapsing on only rare occasions.

Lucien, the Sidekick Lucien: Jared's personal relationships were often brief. He described his relationships as tumultuous, and break-ups could be abrupt. He had no children, but had the one creature he loved outside work and family--Lucien. Lucien, his dog, was his described "sidekick" in life. Even when separated, he still talked often of Lucien. When making backup plans for Trochlear, in the event that any co-owner were to be jailed or killed, the password for accessing each account for the label included "lucien" in it.

In Jared's own words: "This is Mushuto's dog, Lucien. She's 8 years of age, and is fat. She likes to listen to gabber and hardcore, her favorite band is 'Burn The Priest.' She also enjoys eating everyone else's food other than her own. She just had these pix processed today by Mushuto, photographed in North Austin. She was already stressed from the vet visit, nail clipping, which they should of just cut her legs off, I think thats what the doc was trying to do, oh, all the blood, bleeding on the white tiled floor.....Blood....Then she was ordered back to have her 'Heartworm' test, and so of course being vet's they can never seem to find the vein, and just puncture the flesh, over and over and over again....Oh, the pain....So we hope you enjoy the pix. We do."

The First Death: Following his release from prison in 2004, Jared relapsed into drug use. That summer, while under the influence of crystal meth, the drugs caught up with him. From his description, he began seeing patches of light everywhere and could no longer hold onto his body. When he woke up, it was the early hours of morning. He was laying on the ground of a public park. It is what he described as his "moment of clarity", stating, also, that he was suppose to have died that night.

More than ninety-percent of all music and graphics from Jared come from the two-years that followed this experience. He adopted the spiritual philosophy that "no one is damned beyond redemption". To avoid becoming a criminal again, he focused entirely on producing. He relapsed only twice more into drugs. His heart couldn't handle the wear.

Jared Newby, Death Notice The Last Death: On September 4th of 2007, Jared Newby's heart shut down. His mother and father were able to be there with him as he passed. Though mourning deeply, they have taken great care in making sure that Jared's works survive him. Jason, younger brother to Jared, has future plans to work his own music into the songs of his brother. Though his body lays at rest, his music lives on thru fans, friends and family to this day. It is a legacy well remembered.
