The first era of Trochlear began when Jared Newby first entered the world of music in 1997. The epoch marking the end to this era was the public launch of the label in January of '06. What began with one musical entity--Mushuto--grew to include six: ECR, Mushuto, San Jaya Prime, Schema and Symbis and Lysin. The Mushuto and Epileptik Cerebral Reaktor entities were well acclaimed, both with tracks licensed for use in commercial film and television.

The 2006 launch marked the second era for Trochlear. During this era, Trochlear artists HALUSIN8, S8pience, Pranakatana, D3viant 3xperiment and Monkee Monsta' were brought on board. With the success of the launch, Mushuto made San Jaya Prime a co-owner of the label. The original website for Trochlear was launched, designed primarily by Visi0n ATX. A spin-off label called "Ambitekture Recordings" was set up with the intention of using it as a space to have Trochlear artists collaborate with artists from other labels. As quickly as it rose, Trochlear began to collapse. KarmaDownload, the distributor, went offline and out of business, as did the Raw 42 licensing company. John Perez, one of the original two members of Symbis, was imprisoned. The Trochlear website collapsed as well, followed by a silence in music production. The final loss, which marked the end to this era, was the death of Trochlear founder Jared Newby, and with Trochlear artist HALUSIN8 being brought forward as co-owner.

The third era of Trochlear began with the death of Jared Newby in September of 2007. This is the current era. Following on the ideals laid down by Jared and Jaya, the label has expanded greatly via music networking. The catalog of Trochlear music has been made available for free download online. Higher quality music downloads will be made available for purchase from popular online music resellers for most of the catalog. Trochlear lives again, maintaining the memory of what all has been lost, yet keeping a mechanical eye to the future.
